KINSMEN LOTTO for the ALBERTA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Started in 1993, this project, over time, has become our Club's largest fundraiser as well as establishing the direction in which the Stampede City Kinsmen Club puts forth its service efforts, namely "Help the Kinsmen Help the Kids" and our Kids being the sick and disadvantaged children of Calgary & Southern Alberta, the Kooteney's of British Columbia and the World through the expertise engaged at the Alberta Children's Hospital and other local organizations.
Over the past 19 years of conducting the Lottery, we have donated approximately $24 million to the Alberta Children's Hospital, making the "Stampede City Kinsmen" the largest single donor.
In the early stages of the Lottery we funded a portion of the "Special Isolation Unit" and following that, funded the "Special Procedures Room for Infants and young children" at the Richmond Road site as well as the Ear Nose & Throat Unit including the purchase of specialized equipment for that unit.
On completion of the funding for the above, the Lottery focused on the building of the new Hospital with its funding commitment of $10 million which was accomplished in 2005
In 2006 the Lottery commenced the funding of a $3 million Research Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences undertaken by Dr. Wiebe. At the same time the Lottery funded the Cystic Fibrosis screening program for newborn infants and related research equipment placed at the University of Alberta Hospital.
With these phases completed, the proceeds of the lottery have been directed towards the purchase of the Next Generation DNA Sequencer and is the current funding direction of the Lottery. www.HomeLotto.com.
